Our Washington, DC office offers internship opportunities to college students during the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Individual responsibilities will vary, but all interns will be asked to answer phones, research legislation for the Member and legislative staff, attend hearings and briefings, and answer constituent letters on various issues before the House. As a result, interns learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office.
Internship hours are flexible, but generally run 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. when Congress is in session, and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. when not in session.
Internships in the Office of Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy are designed to enhance the academic experience for college students. All internships are unpaid. Congresswoman Murphy supports students requesting credit through their university or program. Preference will be given to Florida residents or students of Florida colleges and universities.
